HOW TO RE-SIZE AND RE-NAME A DIGITAL FILE

1.  Insert CD ROM containing images into your computer drive.

After a moment, go to "My Computer".

(CLICK ON ANY IMAGE TO ENLARGE)

2.  Double-click your CD ROM drive to access CD.  Drag folder

with your image(s) from your CD to your desktop.  Also, at

this time, create and name a folder on your desktop to contain

your final re-formatted files for submission.

3.  Start your photo imaging program and open your .jpg file(s).

Adobe Photoshop Elements is a good beginner program.

4.  With image open, select "Image" from the menu bar, pull down

menu to "Resize", and select "Image Size"...

5.  In the "Image Size" window, you can change the dimensions of

your image to match specific requirements, for various purposes.

Depending on the proportions of your image, an image height of

4" to 4.5" at 300 dpi resolution, will match current requirements

for the Water Color Society of Oregon.  (Be sure "Constrained

     Proportions" is activated.)

Aim for a final file size that is 2MB to 2.5MB in memory size for

best results.   An initial file size with minimum or better image

quality to start, is necessary for this process to work correctly.

6.  To save and re-name your changes, select "File" in menu bar.

While holding mouse button, pull down menu to "Save As..."

7.  Select the folder on your desktop which you've previously

created for your submission CD.  This is where you will

     save your file(s).

8.  Highlight the name of the file, and type in your new file name.

Select "Save" button to save changes to your submission folder.

9.  From your desktop, double-click your folder to view contents.

Select "View" from the menu bar, and pull down to "Details".

This will enable you to view the exact memory size of your file.

(In the image shown, the final size is 2.3MB.)  Perfect!
